Individual Gestalt Therapy in Amsterdam

A space to slow down, understand what’s going on beneath the surface, and find your way forward.

What Individual Gestalt Therapy Is

In individual Gestalt therapy I focus on what is happening in the here and now. Between us. Inside your body. In your life. All of it. What is it all about? Giving meaning to the unnamed, will give you more access to yourself and deepen your relationships.

That can be thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, or something harder to name. We don’t rush to explain it or fix it. Instead, we stay with it long enough to understand what it is showing.

Sometimes that means talking. Sometimes it means noticing what happens in your body, or in the space between us. Often, patterns become clearer in the moment: how you relate, where you hold back, what feels difficult or unfamiliar.

From there, something begins to shift. Not because you force it, but because you see more clearly what is going on.

What You Can Come With To Individual Therapy

You don’t need a clear reason to start. People come with things like:

  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected

  • Anxiety, stress, or difficulty slowing down

  • Relationship patterns that keep repeating

  • A sense that something is “off,” without knowing exactly what

  • Life transitions, loss, or big decisions

  • Wanting to understand yourself better

  • Or simply the feeling that something needs attention.

How Individual Gestalt Therapy Sessions Work

Sessions are one-on-one, in a calm and focused setting.

We work at your pace. There is no pressure to share more than you want to, and no expectation to arrive with a clear story.

I won’t give you a set of tools or steps to follow. Instead, I stay with you in what is happening, asking questions, reflecting, and sometimes bringing in what I notice.

The work is relational, which means what happens between us is part of the process. This can help make patterns visible in a way that’s hard to access on your own.

Over time, this creates more awareness, more choice, and more room to respond differently.
