Gestalt Therapy Bodywork in Amsterdam

Your body is already expressing something, even when there are no words for it yet.

In bodywork, we slow down and tune into what is happening physically. Not to analyse it from a distance, but to experience it more fully and understand what it is showing.

What Gestalt Therapy Bodywork Focuses On

We might explore:

  • Sensations in your body that don’t have a clear name yet

  • Movements your body wants to make and where they feel restricted

  • How your body responds in contact, in the moment

  • What changes when attention is brought to a sensation

This is not about doing exercises “correctly.” It’s about noticing what is already there.

If we surrendered to earth's intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Rainer Maria Rilke

Pain as a signal

When something hurts, the first instinct is often to get rid of it.

But pain is also be a form of expression.

Something is showing up, often in a specific situation or context. Instead of pushing it away immediately, we can stay with it and listen to what it is pointing to.

Paradoxically, giving space to a sensation often softens it. When something is acknowledged, meaning can be found, and it doesn’t need to push as hard to be noticed.

How I work with the body

We don’t separate body and mind here.

In a session, we take time to notice these patterns. You might describe a sensation, stay with it, or express it through small movements. Or we can also look at what part of a movement cannot be made yet and what that stands for. What support it needs to gain more movement.

I support you in finding a connected meaning in words, contact, or form for what you’re experiencing, so it becomes an integrated experience, rather something that controls you.

Making sense of what your body holds

Sometimes, experiences were too much at the time, or there wasn’t enough support to process them.

The body often carries what couldn’t be expressed. By bringing awareness to these sensations in a safe setting, something can shift. This creates more space, more clarity, and more agency in how you move through your life.

Reviews.

  • I felt at home from our very first conversation. You really listened to me, saw me. I always felt seen and heard in my questions and my search. I find you very sensitive, super accurate in tuning in without disappearing yourself. I found it very supportive that you allowed yourself to be visibly affected.

  • Rinske is very knowledgeable in her approach and knows how to put you at ease in confrontational conversations. A session with Rinske feels like a conversation with a very good friend who also dares to ask the right questions to help you with your process of self-reflection.

  • After a difficult period, I ended up at Rinske's practice. I had no previous experience with any form of therapy, but Rinske made sure that wasn't a problem at all. She was a good listener and we had some great conversations. Thank you, Rinske!
