Gestalt Bodywork.
Your body is expressing something that might not have been possible to express otherwise, until now. Let’s tune in.
Our body speaks volumes.
Our bodies aren’t separate from our minds. Throughout all our life experiences, our body got shaped, structured and most importantly learned how to move.
Wat we can focus on is;
- Sensations in your body that don’t have a name yet.
- What movement does your body want to make? Can it happen freely or is there a sense of restriction?
- What does my presence do for this sensation?
Pain as a guide.
Sometimes we have a pain somewhere and our first implication is to get rid of it. Take a paracetamol, go to a doctor. But inside the nuisance there is an expression. Something is showing up, specifically in a certain environment or situation. It might feel paradoxical at first, but inviting it in might help us get to the core of the issue.
Letting go means first having to hold it, look at it. Giving it a name. Our body will feel heard, so the pain doesn’t have to amplify it to get our attention.
Our body is our nature.
We will focus on what our bodies are telling us during a session. Often, we don’t pay close attention to our bodily experiences or share them with others. Now, we'll take our time to truly understand these sensations. Instead of rushing to think or analyse, we’ll let our bodies tell us our wisdom.
It's essential to find a way to express these sensations, whether by mimicking them with our hands or describing them. I will help you connect with your bodily sensations and find the right words for them.
When we witnessed bad experiences and didn’t receive enough support, we try to silence our body, discriminating the sensation with the danger that was present in our environment.
Re-gaining awareness around these experiences inside a safe connection, we can re-gain agency over our bodies and our lives again.
I like to keep it simple; our bodies clearly indicate what feels right or wrong.
We will explore your feelings and experiences in the moment. Sometimes, you might know immediately and feel relief; other times, you may need to reflect on your feelings.
With time and focus, we will give meaning to your needs, allowing past events to become just experiences rather than triggers.
Integration
In Gestalt bodywork, my goal is to make sure your body integrity is kept intact. You move the way you do, you hold the way you hold. There are no rules about how your body should be, or move. And always; boundaries are important to make specific.
Specific to Gestalt is that the focus is never to rile up your stories, or release bodily tension before it gets meaning but to understand it.
In my practice the goal is to safely get to integration. Bodily relief is only interesting if it comes from relationally understanding what it was about.
